Bike Headlight Review: Cygolite Expilion 680

Last fall, I had grand plans of bike commuting throughout the winter, weather permitting.  Seattle winter days are short.  My last night bike commutes, I had employed zip ties and a small LED Maglite.  I do like my Maglite, but it is not up to the task of nighttime cycling illumination.  A friend/mechanic at ( my local bike shop) recommended the Cygolite Expilion 680. The Cygolite Expilion 680 is a nice looking, compact… Read More »

Small victory!

Puget Sound’s Link Light Rail has a new advertising campaign extolling the virtues of combining cycling and light rail for your commute.  This is a lovely idea.  I do not have any place at work to shower.  I could ride my bike to the train station, ride the train downtown then ride my bike home.  That way I would not be too stinky while at work and I could still… Read More »

Number 1 Prick of the year!

As a cyclist sometimes I have to laugh at myself and my fellow cyclists.  That is how CYCLEBUTTCRACK.com was born.  Being a big fan of satyrical music and music videos… I present this.  I cracks me up!  BTW it appears to be shot in Portland, OR.  Notice the hat under the helmet and the Subaru with the bike rack.  Can’t get much more cliche than that 🙂  Enjoy!

Post Sandy Riding.

I posted earlier about people riding to work in NYC after Sandy.  This is a tragic situation which I would wish not to be repeated, but there is a small silver lining.  People in this city, temporarily at least have learned to appreciate their two wheeled human powered transport.  Hopefully many new cycle-commuters created.  So here is another look at the NYC post Sandy Commute.  CYCLEBUTTCRACK is your purveyor of CHEEKY… Read More »

Tale of two seasons.

Cycling season came to an early conclusion for me this year.  Here in Seattle, it can extend all the way into early November.  This year, we were not so fortunate.  Me being the fair weather wussy cyclist that I am could not fathom braving the cold and the wet through 6 months of dreary damp gloom.  So my bikes hang on their hooks, looking longingly at me every time I walk into… Read More »

Address to a BUTTCRACK Nation.

In honor of tonight’s debate… Ladies and Gentlemen of this great nation.  We have become a BUTTCRACK nation.  Pants have become skinnier and the rise of our jeans has become lower and lower.  We stood by as the muffin tops have multiplied.  We stood by as plumber’s crack spread to all vocations.  Is this the kind of nation we want?  Clearly something has to be done.  My opponent would tell you the… Read More »

Don’t be this guy!

A while back I posted this video on my personal Facebook page as well as my CYCLEBUTTCRACK Facebook page.  People seemed to really be amused by it.  However, one of the comments I got was from the former owner of my favorite bike shop.  He said that guy brought back memories.  My response was I bet you miss questions like that.  He said, ‘No!  No I do not!’  That really got… Read More »

Presidential Cycling Debate.

In honor of the debates, I thought I would dig up some photos of candidates on bicycles.  I found this photo of Obama on a bicycle.  Ugh…  Mr. President is not exactly inspiring confidence with his ride.  At least he is wearing a helmet.  Then Senator Obama was riding a Trek commuter with a flat tire, and what is up with that fender?  It looks like a tail!  The only… Read More »

Conflict resolution…

Picture if you will an event distant and a long time ago.  Your friendly blog writer had a girlfriend living at his house.  Shocking!  How is that possible that this cretin had a female of the opposite sex interested in him?  It is still a question I ask myself on a daily basis.  While the relationship came to a predictable end (she came to her senses and left) It did… Read More »
