I grew up in Southeastern Idaho, 72 miles from the western entrance to Yellowstone Park, so I went on many trips there when I was younger. I even worked a couple summers as a carpenter at the park’s entrance at West Yellowstone. It’s an amazing place so of course I follow the Cycle Greater Yellowstone’s Facebook page. Cycle Greater Yellowstone just held an inaugural ride, and it sounds so rad I wanted to share some specifics with you!
- 7 Days
- 1,000 Riders Max
- 460 Miles
- 18,386 ft vertical elevation gain
- 3 meals per day catered by Yellowstone Kelly’s as well as ride food stops.
- $1,000 approx. cost (not bad for a 7 day supported ride).
|Time to get your climbing legs out for this ride. The
elevation will make it even more fun 🙂
I could go on, but needless to say, it appears to be a well-supported, very challenging ride and it is close to where I grew up (That’s the most important part, right!). Really, though, the most stunning thing about Cycle Greater Yellowstone was the photos from their first ride. I had forgotten how amazing the scenery is. Here are a few photos to help convince us to save our pennies and sign up for next year’s ride:
For a little more incentive, Jim Moore, the Executive Director of Cycle Greater Yellowstone, says that next years ride will be August 17-23, 2014, and will start and end in Jackson Hole, WY. That makes logistics a lot easier, for sure! So mark your calendars!!
