Number 1 Prick of the year!

As a cyclist sometimes I have to laugh at myself and my fellow cyclists.  That is how CYCLEBUTTCRACK.com was born.  Being a big fan of satyrical music and music videos… I present this.  I cracks me up!  BTW it appears to be shot in Portland, OR.  Notice the hat under the helmet and the Subaru with the bike rack.  Can’t get much more cliche than that 🙂  Enjoy!

Green revolution.

I found a video of a cycle powered movie on YouTube this afternoon.  I thought it was a great idea.  I would love to see my local cycle club sponsor such an event.  It would be awesome!  I posted the video on the CYCLEBUTTCRACK facebook page.  Cycle Powered Theater. Well this got me thinking about using legs to power other things.  There is the cycle powered water pump.  I then found this… Read More »

Post Sandy Riding.

I posted earlier about people riding to work in NYC after Sandy.  This is a tragic situation which I would wish not to be repeated, but there is a small silver lining.  People in this city, temporarily at least have learned to appreciate their two wheeled human powered transport.  Hopefully many new cycle-commuters created.  So here is another look at the NYC post Sandy Commute.  CYCLEBUTTCRACK is your purveyor of CHEEKY… Read More »

Human Powered Flight.

Back in 1979 the Gossamer Albatros, a human powered airplane flew across the English channel.  I remember seeing old video on PBS when I was a boy and even then I found the feat inspiring.  I was recently reminded of this video when I saw a video following Gamera, a human powered helicoptor built by University of Maryland students.  It is amazing what one can do with pedal power!  So here are the two… Read More »

Tale of two seasons.

Cycling season came to an early conclusion for me this year.  Here in Seattle, it can extend all the way into early November.  This year, we were not so fortunate.  Me being the fair weather wussy cyclist that I am could not fathom braving the cold and the wet through 6 months of dreary damp gloom.  So my bikes hang on their hooks, looking longingly at me every time I walk into… Read More »

Bicycle recovery

http://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2012/11/01/novice-cyclists-dust-off-their-bikes-after-the-storm/ It is hard to imagine what the residents of the areas affected by Sandy are going trough.  Gas is scarce due to power outages which are affecting millions of people.  Mass transit is crippled due to flooding. Millions have lost their homes.  Being a born and raised Westerner, this still seems distant to me…  But this is a truly tragic event which I hope to never see again in… Read More »

Address to a BUTTCRACK Nation.

In honor of tonight’s debate… Ladies and Gentlemen of this great nation.  We have become a BUTTCRACK nation.  Pants have become skinnier and the rise of our jeans has become lower and lower.  We stood by as the muffin tops have multiplied.  We stood by as plumber’s crack spread to all vocations.  Is this the kind of nation we want?  Clearly something has to be done.  My opponent would tell you the… Read More »

Don’t be this guy!

A while back I posted this video on my personal Facebook page as well as my CYCLEBUTTCRACK Facebook page.  People seemed to really be amused by it.  However, one of the comments I got was from the former owner of my favorite bike shop.  He said that guy brought back memories.  My response was I bet you miss questions like that.  He said, ‘No!  No I do not!’  That really got… Read More »

Presidential Cycling Debate.

In honor of the debates, I thought I would dig up some photos of candidates on bicycles.  I found this photo of Obama on a bicycle.  Ugh…  Mr. President is not exactly inspiring confidence with his ride.  At least he is wearing a helmet.  Then Senator Obama was riding a Trek commuter with a flat tire, and what is up with that fender?  It looks like a tail!  The only… Read More »
